Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Guardian Ad Litem

I'd like to know more about Guardian Ad Litem - why is one appointed - in this case my husband filed a motion for having GAL, since he wants to fight for custody. How much GAL could influence the final result of the case?

Thank you!
