Does a legal separation free the partners from responsibility for debts incurred by either one after the separation?

If by legal separation you mean that the parties enter into a written agreement as to the financial consequences of their terminatin their marital relationship, that agreement would be binding and bills made after the agreement would be solely the responsibility of the person making the bill.
