Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
Marrying divorced dad - can ex wife include my income for Child Support?
I am marrying in 2009 my fiance has 2 girls from prev. marriage and is paying child support on time. He is struggling right now but he pays for their health care through his job and he has the kids 2 weeks out of the month. I anticipate that my new business will be very successful and soon he will join in helping me run it. His ex wife has always made over $20k more than him but he is paying alot in support now, so I am wondering 1 - can she come after any of my earnings and 2- how do I protect myself financially for any future children and our retirement in the future. My fiance already has money that will go into a trust for the children if something happens to him. We also plan that together we will put away for their college education. When child support was set up it was high beacuse both kids were in day care - now there is only 1 in day care and the other will go to school next fall. How should I approach this new chapter of my life so that I am supportive, but not taken advantage of. PS - Even though he pays over $1500 in child support, she does not send any clothes with the kids so we have to buy them clothes, feed them of course and provide for them for the almost 2 weeks he has them every month.

I strongly suggest a prenuptual agreement and a way to keep your assets separate. I would be happy to assist.
