Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
Seperation
My wife and I are currently seperated and I am just curious as to what I should do. We were only married 8 months, but together for 7 years. I think she has already spoken with an attorney, but I was hoping for a quick and simple end. She took all the money from bank accounts that she was listed on, but didn't contribute to (about $4000). Now she is asking for my tax info. I think she wants spousal support. We are both 27 and she is able to work, has a job, but chooses not to work enough to support herself. I was just wondering what I should do next. I really don't want anything to be expensive because we don't have shared assets. I have already moved out of the apartment (she signed off on it, I have no legal ties to it anymore), we have no shared credit cards, cars, kids, or property. What should I do. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Seperation
If you both want to keep it simple because your situation is pretty simple and you agree on the division of your assets, then file for a dissolution of your marriage. If your wife tries to get spousal support from you, you will probably want to contest that, which means filing for a divorce. It sounds as though it is in both your interests to file for a dissolution.
Re: Seperation
What you do next is up to you. I would suggest consulting several attorneys in your area. You may want to go ahead and file for divorce, or you may want to try to work with your wife and file for a dissolution. If you have no shared assets, debts, or kids it shouldn't be too complex.
