Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio
Garnishment
I was informed by my employer that I had an garnishment against me. I wasn't notified, well I never received andy correspondence from the Law firm handling the garnishment. I live in a secured building and the maintenance man signature is who signed for the letter requesting me to go to court regarding this matter. He states he didn't but the Law firm said his signature is on the receipt and considered good as served. I'm being garnished 25% of my pay every pay period. I have a court hearing and would like to know if I have a leg to stand on? I was notified, they don't have my signature on the certified letter so how can it be considered as served? I'm currently trying to get this matter settled with the company that turned this over to the Law firm. I'm a single mother with two children and this garnishment (the percentage) is really hindering me from taking care of myself and my children. I would like to know what I should say when I go to court.

Re: Garnishment
You definetly need a lawyer to file a motion for relief from judgment. That can solve all your problems because you were sued without actual knowledge.
