Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio

Are Judgements Appealable?

Can you appeal an out of state judgement ? We live in Ohio , the man that filed and won the case lives in NJ. We could not make it to the trial due to conflicts with work schedules and health issues. We mailed in our answers, yet still lost. Which did not suprise us. The man was full of lies.

The man has not yet filed the judgement he won in New Jersey, but keeps threatening us that he is, and that he will have it transferred to our local court.

Also this case involved 3 cars, since the case was won against us, for something like $10,160 , ( we never did receive any paperwork from the courts). Can he demand payment from us and the vehicles? Or is he only entitled to one or the other? He also makes threats of contacting the FBI for crossing state lines with stolen cars. These cars were not stolen, he was supposed to pay for them to be picked up and delivered, but only made partial payment, so they were not delivered. That is the very basics of the case, it has more to it if you can believe it!

We need to know what rights we have, if we have to pay, we have to pay, but would rather not be harassed, just want this over.

Re: Are Judgements Appealable?

You should contact an NJ attorney and find out what you can do in that state immediately! There are time limits on appeals, motions for new trials, etc.. It's NJ law that applies to the case, they took jurisdiction.
