suing daycare for child endangerment

How do I know what to ask for in lawsuit? besides the refund of 204.88 of what i paid them and about 200.00 lost wages would it be wrong to ask for 3000.00 in small clains court

You can ask for as much as you feel you have been damaged, up to $3,000.00. Generally, you need to have some basis for the amount though. If you can honestly say you believe you have been injured in the amount of $3,000.00 (or whatever amount), and you have evidence to support all your claims, then you can ask for that amount.

Don't forget you can also ask for the other side to pay your court costs, which is not counted in the $3,000.00 limit.
