Legal Question in Immigration Law in Ohio

A friend has sought legal assilum from Venezula. Her mother is now very ill. Can she go back and see her mother or would she then not have the right to return to the USA

She can go to her home country, but she will not be allowed to come back if she has no legal status in USA, and her asylum application is pending in either Asylum office or Immigration Court.

If she was granted asylum status, then she can apply for a Refugee travel document. However, travel to the country of the claimed persecution may raise some questions as to validity of her asylum claim.
