Legal Question in Immigration Law in Ohio
work permit
am getting married but am here on f1 visa. The problem is that I had tried to apply for asylum but they denied my application. However I alreadly had a work permit as a result of the 150 wait days. My permit will expire in march and am not eligible to get another one. if I get married should I apply for another one or should I wait for this one to expire? also will it complicate things that I tried to apply for asylum although I still have an active F1 visa? THank you.

Re: work permit
The fact that your asylum petition was denied may complicate the process but it shouldn't prevent the process. Immigration will examine two major issues: whether your marriage is valied according to the rules and whether you have remained "in status" all of the time that you have been here. I recommend that you seek the assistance of an immigration attorney.
Re: work permit
Are you marrying a US citizen? If you are in legal status you should be able to get married and file the necessary documents. Nevertheless, you should talk to an attorney before filing to make sure everything is in order. You are free to contact our office to discuss your case.
Re: work permit
You should contact a knowledgeable immigration attorney before proceeding. A number of facts must be determined before your question can be answered. Is your fiancee a US Citizen? If so, is the citizenship by birth or naturalization? If by naturalization, how long ago? When you say you have an active F1, does that mean you are still in school, carrying a full courseload? These are but a few of the questions. I'd be happy to assist you.
