can i sue my landlord for havin to live w bed bugs for 6 months? he was aware of the problem and did nothing

It depends on the source of the problem. Under Ohio law a tenant is obligated to keep the property in a safe and sanitary condition. The landlord cannot be held liable for a condition the tenant created. If the cause of the problem is a neighboring tenant or some other source, the landlord would have to correct the problem. The law requires that you place the landlord on formal written notice of the problem. The notice must be delivered to the address the landlord should have provided you when you moved in; probably the same place you mail your rent. The landlord will then have 30 days to correct the problem.
