Re: architects licensure

I could find no statute or case law that directly prohibits a "felon" from obtaining an architect's license in Ohio, but the licensing statute does require that an applicant for an architect's license prove that he or she is "of good moral character." The administrative code expands on that and says that the applicant may not have been convicted of "a crime of moral turpitude." The general rule is that all felony convictions are "crimes of moral turpitude."

The probability is that if a convicted felon applied to sit for the architect's exam he or she would not be permitted to take the exam. They could then administratively appeal that decision and, ultimately, appeal that decision to court.
