Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

can I change my mind/

I had previously written to ask if I can change my mind after signing an intent to buy a house. The reply I received said that I had three days to change my mind. Well, it's been a month since I signed, but the issue that I can see is that the seller is fixing this house up because I said I would buy it. He said the work would be done by now, but there is nothing in writing, and I am having second thoughts. Since it's been so long since I signed, can I still back out?

Dear Changed-Your-Mind-Home-Buyer: Yes, you can still change your mind and reject the purchase. Look carefully at whatever document you signed; it should have an escape clause. If not, see a real estate lawyer ASAP to ascertain your rights. I can't check your contractual documents from where I sit. Good luck.

Sincerely, J. Norman Stark
