Can we claim landlock?
We were given land via a quitclaim deed, unbeknown to us until it was received. This parcel adjoins our current property. There is no access to this new parcel. We were denied driveway access to this property. On the other side of property, we need permission from 5 landowners which we do not have.
This was a family gift. The property that adjoins the property we were given affords us the entry we need, 30 feet from the property we were given. The family member who had the property surveyed is the owner of the property that adjoins ours.
Can we claim landlock and if so what does that afford us?

If it adjoins your current property it is not landlocked. It may be inconvenient to access, but it is not landlocked. If it is truly landlocked, you need to negotiate a right-of-way easement from the adjoining landowners. You may have to pay for this right. Once the easement is obtained, you need to file it with the county recorder�s office.
