Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

security deposits

i do believe it is true that a landlord can ask for a security deposit of any amount, but is it in the law that a landlord can ask for an additional security deposit after the first one has been made. This happened to me after i had paid one month rent and deposit. Only after this the landlord ran a credit check and wanted an additional month deposit.

Re: security deposits

If the security deposit is for more than one month's rent, then the landlord must pay you 5% interest on the additional deposit under ORC 5321. You landlord will probably call this additional sum as last month's rent.
