Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

Shared home ownership

I bought a house with my girlfriend from her parents about seven years ago. The mortgage is in my name and I make all of the payments. She does have almost equal equity based on the reduced price her parents sold us the house for. The relationship is over. I want to buy her out, or sell the property. She will not agree. She can't afford to buy me out. What are my legal options?

Re: Shared home ownership

You can file a complaint in common pleas court against her for partition, where the court determines who owns what part of the property, and what the property is worth. Even if neither of you can afford to buy out the other right now, at least all of the rights and duties will be defined.
