Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

my father passed away last oct. in his will I was left the farm equitment. I just recieved a letter from probate court that there will be a hearing on inventory and all the farm equitment is listed on there. It also states that if I have any exceptions to this list I need to file it at least 5 days prior to the hearing. What does this mean and should I file anything?

All of your father's assets that did not pass directly to others should be listed in the inventory. This typically includes farm equipment in a farm estate. So I see nothing out of the ordinary about the items being in the estate. The "exceptions" would be things you do not agree with on this estate inventory; for example, are things missing from the list? or, Are there assets that appear in the inventory that should not? ( For example, a piece of farm equipment which belongs to you already is listed as an estate asset.)

The decision to file "exceptions" would be based on whether or not you agree with the inventory as it has been filed. The probate court will go by this list to disperse your father's assets. So, if his will says that you get the farm equipment, you will only receive what farm equipment appears in the inventory.
