Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio
heirs v/s unclaimed funds
Please advise what the proceedure is when a check from an estate from Ohio is not cashed.
The party it was sent to never returned it or cashed it by the 2005 deadline.
There are no other living heirs besides a nephew living in Florida and his (mother who is in a nursing home)in N. Y.
The money was apparently sent to uncaimed funds. How can these heirs go about claiming the funds?

Re: heirs v/s unclaimed funds
They need to file a claim form available from the Ohio Department of Commerce. The state retains 5% of all amounts claimed. It takes an average of 90-120 days to receive the funds.
