Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

Inheritance

My father died two years, 2 months ago. My step-mother of 30 years remarried a year later, and she recently died. She and her new husband remained in the house my father paid for (she never held a job in her life). Do my siblings and I have any claim to his property/assets, or does everything go to her two natural children?

Re: Inheritance

If your father had a will and left everything to your step mother, you are unfortunately out of luck. If not, then you would have inherited his 1/2 interest in the community property and retain a full interest in his separate property at the time of his death. E-mail me directly if you need further direction.

Re: Inheritance

Do you know if your father had a will? If so, do you know how the will provided for his proerty to be distributed? If he didn't have a will, then you may have a claim. It will depend on how the house was deeded, when it was paid off. If you would like to discuss this in detail, please call me at 216.241.2500.
