Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

Help , before i make a decision

Looking for an honest answer about something that has been presented to me. I recently have been presented with and offer from a South African attorney representing a recently deceased individual with the same last name as myself. He contacted me as a next of kin claiming he has tried over the past 2 years to locate all family members. I guess he was unsuccessful in doing so, so he contacted me and let me in on this information. Obviously i am interested in this venture but am unaware on the legality of it all. To my knowledge i am not related to this person at all. If i were to do this how would explain the funds i were to receive? Does this seem like something that is on the up and up? I have never heard of this. Any input into this situation would be greatly appreciated. By the way, this individual was not a member of the U.S..... Look forward to your reply.....Thanks!!

These are usually scams. They want your bank account number so they can deposit funds. Usually from Nigeria. If they want any of your personal information, don't do it. If you think it is legitimate, ask for it in writing to substantiate it. That usually stops it right there. Be very leary, these are known scams.
