Probate court

Mother passed away, no will. left car, was told had to go throw probate court to get it in my name. Why, how, and how much does this cost. Anyway around that.

If the car was in mother's name only then you will need to get probate court permission to transfer the car.

If the car is her only asset then you might be able to do a Release from Administration which is faster and less costly.

You should talk to a probate attorney who can guide you through the process.
