Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

Protecting share of estate

My oldest son died in February of 2001 leaving no will (in testate)I was informed that under Ohio law, my ex husband (his father) and I share equally in the estate. I have a letter from my ex's attorney stating that as well. We had gone through a nasty divorce 32 years ago and we have never spoken since. Another son was named administrator of the estate (basically a house appriased at $ 82,000) Not much else. The home has now been put on the market. Do we need an attorney to safeguard my half. Have spoken to some attorneys back in Elyria, Ohio and no one seems interested. What do I need to do? Will appreciate any advice or help.

Thank you

Re: Protecting share of estate

If you trust your son you don't need an attorney. Contact the Ohio court overseeing the estate and make sure they know of your interest.

Attorney Slater's advice is sound advice. There is nothing for an attorney to do for you at this time.
