Legal Question in Construction Law in Oklahoma

construction

Over a year ago I was swindled out of 1K to a ''familiar'' construction worker. He had worked on my roof and did a satisfactory job. I gave him another check (for materials) to continue more work. He never showed up. I had called and he would call and claim some lame excuse but would be here to work. I tried calling various souces but just kept getting dead end because it was going to cost me more to get anything back. I was basically told to cut my loss. That was over a year ago. I still get angry thinking about it. Advise please. Thanks!

Re: construction

Sice the amount of money is not that great, you could go to small claims court and sue him for this money. The filing fees are small and you would win a judgement. I don't know the statute of limitations in OK, however, usually it is at least 3 years on contracts. You will have a judgement against him for the money and he will be required to pay it.

Dear Unhappy Construction Customer: Too bad you didn't have a written, signed agreement!

You may contact your local City or County Prosecutor and file a Complaint for Conversion against this thieving contractor.

Good luck!

Sincerely,

J. Norman Stark, Cleveland, Ohio
