Legal Question in Elder Law in Oklahoma

power of attorney

I live in california, my father lived here up until two yrs

ago. I have had calif. med POA since 1999. My dad moved to OK to help my sister after her husband died.

My dad gave my neice POA in case of medical emergency about two mnths ago. I just found out that she put my dad in a nursing home and didn't contact any family member. My dad doesn't want to be there, and he wants me to come and get him. Also, my father had direct deposit of his social security check into his bank account. My neice cancled that and now has the check mailed to her house. My neice and my sister don't get along.

My question is whose POA does the oklahoma nursing home have to recognise? What options do I have?

Thank you very much

Re: power of attorney

You need an Oklahoma attorney to make sure this gets sorted out. If the neice won't make right on his money and care, it may require legal action by the local attorney to recover the money and get control of him and out of the home. Good luck. Contact the local Lawyers Referral Society in that town.
