Legal Question in Banking Law in Oregon

possible bank fraud

received a check ups next day made out to me. was suspect of it so I took it to the bank it was drawn on expecting it to be no good. They checked it said it was ok and gave the cash. I did not want to deposit in my account and have it bounce back. In researching I believe it may be a scam but most people tried to deposit and then had it come back to them. Received an international call to check my email for instructions. Received the email but not instructions and now comminication has stopped. I don't think I was suppose to cash yet but was surprised there was funds. What is my liability if it actually ends up being fake? even though the bank checked the account. It was Bank of America?

Re: possible bank fraud

If bak honored it, I would argue BOA would have to pursue its acct holder, unless you perpetrated a fraud on bank (forgery, bogus check etc).

How much was check for?

Payor?
