Legal Question in Personal Injury in Oregon
Hi there,
I used to work at a convenience store, where my manager had me climb onto the roof to retrieve a hose. I recieved an electric shock and fell 15 feet to the pavement, my manager had me stay and work until the area manager arrived, then the manager took me to the emergency room, I was off work for a week when the manager showed up at my house to take me back to work, I gave him a notice from my doctor stating that i could not stand for more then 4 hours a day, my first week back I worked 59.6 hours, i told him that I am not able to work that many hrs, he continued to have me work 9 - 10 hr shifts along with a few 16 hr shifts, I was forced to quit the next month, my back was having spasms, i was in to much pain, I am now 25% disabled because of the accident.. So the question is can i legally go after the convenient store about having unsafe work conditions and mistreating me?

You might be able to file a winning lawsuit against the store. It depends on many circumstances, your employment contract, whether you received workers' compensation benefits for the injury, and others.
I do not handle cases like this, but the law firm of Kafoury McDougal in Portland does. You can reach them at 503-224-2647 or [email protected]. They provide an initial consultation visit for you at no charge, and they usually take cases on a "contingency" basis, which means that you do not have to pay them, unless they succeed in obtaining money for you from the entity that harmed you.
