checks deposted in error
our company mailed a check to the wrong address payable to a different company and they deposited it
how long should we wait for reimbursement by law

You asked about a misdirected check.
It depends on their bank. There actually is no clear law on this. It is clear that the other business cannot keep your money but they also do get to wait to see if their bank clears the check or kicks it back.
In either way 30 days would be the minimum before you can really get irritated and start saber rattling.
But please call if you do need to get aggressive.
