Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania
employment law
Hello, I would like to ask a question. I started my job two years ago, and I was 18 years old when i started there. They payed me 7 dollars an hour with benefits. But i did not need benefits because i was still covered under my mother. They told me that if i did not need benefits they would pay me ten dollars an hour with out benefits, so i took the deal. Now I am 20 years old and no longer covered under my mothers insurance. They are now hiring people there at 10 dollars an hour with benefits while i am getting payed 10 an hour without benefits, and i am planning on asking them to give me benefits since they are giving them to everybody else they hire along with the same hourly rate that i get. So I am planning on asking them to give me the benefits since they give them to the other employees. If i ask and they say no is there anything i can do about it. I would like to here from you soon thank you.

Re: employment law
You asked about pay and benefits.
Actually, employers want employees to participate in benefit programs. Employees are required to maintain certain participation level in all programs through various laws and regulations.
There is nothing that an employer can say to prevent you from taking benefits, but, they only need to allow you to do so during an enrollment period or other "life event" which would make you eligible for benefits.
This is the time of year for most enrollment periods so you should check to see when your enrollment period ends. If it has ended then you must wait for the next open enrollment. Generally, routine benefits have no bearing on pay.
Contact you HR person about benefits as soon as you can after reading this.

Roger
