Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania
Legal Ads in Newspapers
I am in a partnership with my ex-husband. After we were divorced, I found out that my name is still registered to the partnership. How do I get my name off this partnership? And, am I liable for anything this business does? A friend told me I could place an ad in a newspaper in the legal section of the classified section. Would this work? Thank you for your help.

Re: Legal Ads in Newspapers
It depends.
Generally a partnership dissolves when one partner withdraws, this naturally leaves a sole proprietorship. But when the Partnership is registered more must be done to withdraw from the partnership.
And considering it's part of a divorce then it really should be wrapped up properly and tied with a bow. Generally not a difficult or expensive proposition, but your freind is most assuredly wrong.
That would have worked in the 19th century but not today. I specialize in such matters (business law) and can help you if you'd like.
