Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

Proposal dispute

Gave a client a proposal in January. Did initial design work and charged client 50% of the proposal price. Client has stalled project for over 8 months. Can I legally terminate my services for the completion of the architectural plans. Can the price originally quoted in 2006 be altered even though they signed the proposal in January.

I would prefer to allow them to keep the remaining money owed to complete the project and have them contact another engineer if that is a possibility. How should I approach terminating the contract is that is legal?

Re: Proposal dispute

The answer really depends on the term of the written agreement between you and the client. What does the agreement say about termination rights?

Re: Proposal dispute

You asked about terminating a contract.

When answering on this board we try to give general advice and not to advise on specific situations. Yours is a very specific situation and any we gave would be based on incomplete information. Would you design a building without knowing it intended use or location?

Every business person needs to have a relationship with an attorney exactly for situations such as this. For this situation the advice could range from deal with it formally to deal with it casually.

If you would like to create an ongoing relationship with an attorney just for such situations then please give me a call or email me and we can speak further.

Regards,

Roger
