Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

Do we have the right to sue if a building inspector is dragging his feet with ou

We have a ski shop in the winter. We are opening an ice cream parlor in the summer. In march, we were told by the borough secretary that our ski shop occupancy permit should be fine for ice cream, but she'll check with inspector and if any problems, he'll call. We heard nothing, and when we went to get sign permits in April, we were told there was a new inspector just hired, and he said we have to go through Dept L&I for a license first, then we would need a new occ. permit. He wouldn't even give sign permits. We went through hell getting L&I permits, but got them. We dropped them off at borough and have still heard nothing. He's only part time. You can't get a hold of him, and he doesn't return calls when we leave messages with secretary. We're getting desperate. Can anyone please tell us if we have a way to get him moving? We're losing a ton of money.

Get your self an attorney as quickly as possible. If you can get a township supervisor or other elected official involved you may get some results. The elected official can bring pressure to bear on the individual. A state representative may also help. Use the attorney to coordinate your efforts. Do not delay. This individual is not doing a proper job. Gerald Hershenson 215-579-9390
