Legal Question in Consumer Law in Pennsylvania

book publishers

Publisher edited a book unsatisfactorily. They will not re edit the book since putting into print. The book has major typos, spelling mistakes, no page numbers and missing words. What do I need to do, to pull this book from them and submit to another publisher? Isbn number and copyright are in effect already. Publisher owns the graphics/cover. They have contacted me one time, ignoring 6 weeks of prior e-mails, phonecalls and 3 months have passed since their e-mail. What can I do?

Re: book publishers

If you have a written contract with the publisher read it to determine what it says. You may want to hire an attorney to help. I or any attorney that post here would be happy to help you for a fee.

Re: book publishers

I logged in to answer you, and see you have an answer. They are right, you first look to your contract, to see if it tells you what your remedies are. It unfortunately is usually more effective having an attorney WRITE to them, rather than doing it yourself (you see how well that has worked to date), to demand they comply with the contract, and act in a reasonably competent manner (though they do not have to be perfect in their performance). IF you can not get a satisfactory result, you sue unless the contract dictates otherwise, such as arbitration.

Good luck.

Re: book publishers

I agree with what the other attorney stated. Your contract would be the place to start to see what action you can take.
