used car bought from a person

If you buy a car from a person nd this person says that the car is in fair condition and it ends up being a piece of junk is ther anything I can do to get my money back?

You asked about rescinding the sale of a vehicle based on misrepresentation.

Generally vehicle sales between private parties are "as is." The buyer has a right to have the vehicle inspected prior to purchase. Once the vehicle is sold the buyer generally has no recourse against a seller.

the only time that may not be correct is if the seller actually concealed a defect. This doesn't mean that they didn't tell the buyer about a defect, or even that they lied. The seller would have to had actually made an effort to hide a significant defect that was unlikely to be discovered prior to sale because of the concealment (for example, rolling the odometer back 100k miles).
