nursing home resident in credit card debt

AN elderly friend, who was reciently admitted to a nursing home in pa. owes about 5000.oo to various credit card companys. the nursing home takes all of his social security. he has no other assets. can the credit card companys sue him for their money, and take some of his social security? if they do that, it would result in the nursing home kicking him out. he has no living relitives that can take him in. please reply as soon as possable it would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

Social secuirty cannot be garnished to pay a private debt. Only back taxes and child/sposal support can be witheld.
