You asked if you could stop payment on a credit card payment regarding a purchase of an online business that you have not recieved.

Congratulations, you have just been scammed. Fortunately you used a credit card. Unless the payment was somehow converted to a cash payment you should be able to get your money back. That's the best part about using credit cards.

My suggestion to you is that you do three things immediately: 1) report this matter to your local police providing every bit of information that you have, and get a copy of the report and a report number, 2) dispute the charge with your credit card company, by phone and IN WRITING, return reciept requested, and 3) retain and attorney.

All three are necessary items in order to protect your interests. The credit card company will not honor your request unless you have reported this matter to the police as a fraud. The attorney can help steer you through the process and help with any claims that may arise. You will also need to formally revoke your acceptance from the seller, but my guess is that it's a scam and this part won't matter.

Do not skip hiring an attorney because you don't want to spend any more money. And while I would be happy to help you ANY attorney will be able to help.
