Time limit on credit card collections?

I am being sued in civil court for a credit card debt that by their ''exhibit #1'' is over 3 years old(dated June ,2003).Do I have a defense? The amount is $1,268.80 and an interest rate of 25.9% as of July.06.

This is their first formal attempt to collect. Thanks for your time and advise, Debby

The Statute of Limitations for this type of action is four (4) years. You may have other defenses and should speak with a lawyer. I offer free consultations.
