Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
audio recording
I was just informed by a police officer that it is illegal to tape someone without their knowledge. If I had a tape recorder (audio) going in my home and while I was out, people came into my home and were recorded, is that against the law? I did purposely set the recorder to tape because I suspected something was going on in my home while I was at work. Have I committed a crime?

Re: audio recording
It is illegal to tape someone without their knowledge. Period. Unless you put up a sign indicating that you were taping, the taping is likely illegal.
