Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Pennsylvania

College Credits Eligibility

I am a NJ resident and have been attending a college in PA for 10 consecutive semesters. My grades have been very poor but through the college guidance office I was diagnosed with a ''processing disorder''. I was put on probation but permitted to attend school. My major is PolySci with paralegal certification. My college offers the paralegal classes through their institution and the classes are held on my primary college's campus. However, the classes are staffed by teachers from the community college for the paralegal course and I paid my tuition directly to the community college.

My problem - I took two courses at my primary college and two paralegal courses. I withdrew from one of the classes at my primary college and received a D in the second.

However, in the paralegal classes I received an A and a B.

Now, my primary college says that I must leave because they don't recognize the credits from the community college.I have paid thousands of extra dollars being an out-of-state student, and have an excellent student record, just have trouble focusing. I put all of my time and effort in the paralegal (which I want as a profession) and now the primary college wants to kick me out before receiving my degree. Help, please.

Re: College Credits Eligibility

You don't provide enough information to give very practical advice. You need an attorney that specializes in edicational law.

She'll have you make a request for accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (which you could do by yourself). Then she will proceed to discuss the matter with the school and file suit if necessary.

You have rights and need to pursue this. An attorney with all the facts and experience in this specific area may be able to give you a better evaluation of the potential success or failure of your claim.
