Re: please help

You asked whether it was legal for a 24 year old to date a 17 year old.

Whether it is legal or not, it is definitely a bad idea for both parties. I won't go further with that comment because there are more than enough resources that discuss the reasons.

As to legallity, there are some discrepencies in the Pennsylvania laws regarding this issue. generally it is not illegal for persons of those specific ages to date. And the age of consent in Pennsylvania is officially 16.

Other laws involving sexual conduct define minor as a person under the age of 18. Generally these laws involve conduct and contact that is offensive (either to the public or the person involved). This would have the effect of making conduct legal as long as it was within the other laws of legal conduct, but illegal if it crossed a line. What or where that line is is not my place and would be subject to interpretation by the justice system.

As a rule, while parties of the ages you stated may date with impunity, any conduct more substantial than a warm, clothed, embrace may expose the adult to legal charges.

But really, reconsider the relationship, that's a huge age difference at those ages.
