underage drinking/possession

i was with some friends at an outdoor block party by my town...we had just came out of a bar n had a beer in our hand. undercover cops stopped us n told us to SHOW them our id...they r supposed to ask first...but since we hadnt drank any of it and we even asked for a breathalizer but they wouldnt give us one, but cited us anyways, what are the repercussions i am looking at? should i plead not guilty?

I think they have you on possession whether you drank any or not. Whether or not to defend is an interesting question. There is a pre-trial diversion process for underage drinking and it's probably best to go that route absent any special considerations. You pay a fine, do some community service, and lose your driver's license for two months.
