Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

How can I change my son's name.

My son will be 12 years old and would like to change his last name. His father has not been apart of his life since he was 8months old. I was not married to his father, but made the mistake of giving him his last name and his name is on the birth certificate.

My son considers my husband to be his only father and would like to share our family name. Am I able to do this without my son's biological father's permission. The problem is, my son's father is on the run from the law and I cannot reach him. Do you have a loop hole I could work with?

Well the normal procedure is to petition the court to have his name changed. Assuming you have sole legal custody I don't see where the biological father comes into play here.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
