Can a parent from another state just show up and take a child from school with out notifing you.My son has court appointed custody but the wife took the kids after a small demestic dipute and had them for 1 year. In sep 2006 one of the 2 children moved in with my son his dad because the mother didn't want him. things were going good we thought then her husband showed up at school and took him but not against his will. But without notifing my son until they took him.

The Short answer is no.

The longer answer is if your son had court ordered custody then that order has been violated. You need to take action both civil and possibly criminal, exactly what I can't say with just the facts you have given.

First question is why did the school release the child to a person who, they should have known, didn't have custody?
