Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Collecting a debt from a family member
Our son-in-law and daughter borrowed money from us. He & my daughter both signed an agreement to pay us back. We included a paragraph concerning their marriage status, separtation, divorce, etc., that the loan was still to be paid. He signed the agreement, but, now, they are separated, and he has not been paying. What can we do, without spending alot more money, on attorney fees, to collect the money?

If they are in default of the loan and the amount is less than $8,000.00 you can file a complaint at your local Magistrate's office. If the amount is over then you must file with the Court of Common Pleas.
