Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Conflict of Interest

I had a lawyer that represented me last year, because the father of two of my children brought me to court to try to lower his support payments. (They raised it anyway.) He then lost his job this past August, so he was in contempt of court for not notifying them. We had a hearting before a judge about a month ago, and the same lawyer that represented me last year, was representing him. I just wondered what my rights were, and what I should do, if anything. I heard through the grapevine that he was going to take me back again to lower the support. Please help me!!!

Re: Conflict of Interest

Your lawyer is prohibited by the rules of ethics to represent the father of your children. It is a conflict of interest. He needs your consent. If you refuse to consent, he must not represent him. You can complain about the lawyer to the judge and the state disciplinary board that regulates lawyers. If you need assistance please contact me .
