Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

custody of a 16 almost 17 yr old

I have this friend that is about to turn 17. He is not being treated well by his family. His mother gave me temp custody and his aunt told him that he had to come home to PA. He wants to come back to LA. My husband and I live on a military base and the base is who has the legal document for me to have temp custody. I guess my question would be, how old can he be to be able to move out of his aunt's (who has custody of him) and move back to LA to finish his high school years? What would I need to do to get this to where he is able to legally come back and stay with me so I can make sure that he is ''safe'' and not neglected or mentally abused?

I would suggest that you file for custody in the local District Court. The court will decide whether Louisiana or Pennsylvania has jurisdiction. At 16, the court should listen to the young man's feelings.
