Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Joint custody

My son and his girlfriend have just seperated which leaves his 1yr old son with a part time father. He and his girlfriend have agreed upon support and visitation, but my son wants joint custody he is afraid without some sort of legal document, she can change her mind at any time. He has his son 3 nights and 1 full day during the week, which he doesn't want to change. Is there a inexpensive way of making this legal?

Re: Joint custody

He needs to file a petition for custody with the court. There is a filing fee for this which varies from county to county. If he wants to have an attorney with him he obvious need to pay his or her fee as well.
