non biological father since birth fighting for total joint custody

i live in maryland and my daughter in pa. i am not biologically her father but have supported her since birth 3 years and her mother is on drugs help!!!!!!!!!!

You may have a chance at getting custody. You have a couple of hurdles to overcome first. Best to contact an attorney to learn about your options.

If your daughter lives in Pennsylvania and has lived there more than a short time, you will almost certainly need to find a Pennsylvania lawyer to help you if you want to try to get custody. The laws concerning custody are somewhat different in every state, but in general if you can show that the mother, who has custody, is unfit to care for her daughter and that you, although not the biological father, have an established and positive relationship with the child and that the child would be better off with you than with her mother, you might gain custody. But you will need a good lawyer who is familiar with Pennsylvania custody law.
