Re: power of attorney

I am not sure of the complete nature of your question. Since you underscore power of attorney I will tackle that first. If your mother executed a power of attotney that was durable prior to her accident and surgery you or the designated power of attorney if not you may use that. If you have not had one done previously one cannot be done while your mother is not conscious. An alternative is to file for guardianship which is a more complex and drawn out process.

You did not indicate how your mother's accient occurred so I am not sure if you are questioning legal options for the accident if it was caused by persons or parties who were negligent. You would be advised to call an attorney to make an appointment and discuss your situation in more depth.
