Question about Famly Medical Leave Act

Does the Family leave Act allow a single mother to take off for Thanksgiving Holiday to be with her infant. She works for Denny's as a waitress in PA and she has been told by her employer that she must work?

FMLA has a number of requirements before a company is required to allow leave under the act. These include 1 year full time employment. Also, if the Denny's is a franchise it may not meet the minimum number of employees.

The short answer--which is not ever the complete answer--is no. Family Medical Leave would allow a mother to take parenting time off to take care of her infant, but not just choose days for convenience.
