Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

contract issues

I paid someone 60% of the cost up front to build an addition. This was 1 1/2 months ago. Since then, he has worked only 1 day. I signed a contract stating what work was to be done and when and how much he should be paid. He said it would be completed in a couple weeks and in over a month it is barely started. What can I do ?

Re: contract issues

I would be happy to meet you. There are many options you have but it seems you may need an attorney at this point.

If you are near the Pittsburgh region please contact me. 412-478-5865 or email me at [email protected] or see www.sethlawoffices.com

If you are near the Philadelphia region I would be happy to refer you to a trusted attorney in that reason.

Re: contract issues

There are three options.

First, you can simply call and bug him either on your own or through an attorney. The squeaky wheel does indeed get the grease.

Second, you can tell him he is not complying with the contract and if he does not complete the work in a timely fashion, you will sue to recover the money.

Third, you can simply sue to recover the money and possibly have another contractor perform the work.

I trust this has been helpful, but feel free to call or e-mail on a free initial basis.
