Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

Judgment against me

I just recently learned that a judgment was entered against me back in 99 for a vehicle accident that happened when I was a minor. I was not the owner of the car and was never named a ''defendant'' in the case but somehow there's a judgment against me. I was never ''served'' for court and never received ANYTHING in the mail. What can I do??

Re: Judgment against me

First you'll have to research the case. Get copies of all the pleadings in your file at the Prothonotary in the county where the suit was filed. If there is a defect like lack of service, etc. you may be able to file a petition with that court to remove the judgment. Your options will depend upon the particular circumstances of your case.

Re: Judgment against me

Move to Strike and/or Vacate the Judgment for lack of personal jurisdiction because of lack of service.
